the year, but gorilla trekking can be more demanding during rainy season. In Uganda an ideal climate prevail, from warm temperatures in the lowlands and lakes to rather cool temperatures in the highlands. The temperatures vary between 21°C and 30°C. The rainy season is between March and May, as well as a short rainy season between October and November. Due to its altitude and the rainforest, the temperatures are much colder for the gorilla trekking in Bwindi.

[/vc_column_text][vc_raw_html]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[/vc_raw_html][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner css=”.vc_custom_1586956563772{margin-right: 10% !important;margin-left: 10% !important;padding-top: 15px !important;padding-right: 5px !important;padding-bottom: 15px !important;padding-left: 5px !important;}”][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text el_class=”button_general”]

Enquire Now

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”100px”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”LOCATIONS” tab_id=”1583951613413-eb8e2e52-2805ff41-10bc”][vc_empty_space height=”60px”][vc_row_inner content_placement=”top” gap=”5″ css=”.vc_custom_1587487105685{padding-right: 5% !important;padding-left: 5% !important;}” el_id=”reise-block1″][vc_column_inner el_class=”column220″ width=”1/3″][vc_images_carousel images=”1143,1139,1137,1141,1145,1147,1149,1151″ img_size=”full”][vc_empty_space height=”10px”][vc_column_text]

Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge

[/vc_column_text]
MORE INFO

Close

Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge

Nkuringo, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Uganda

www.wildplacesafrica.com

As the name implies, you feel on top of the world from your first gaze across the landscape that simply takes your breath away. Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge is situated in Nkuringo, bordering the south western corner of the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and is situated at about 2.100 m altitude with a panorama view of the Virunga mountain range and the Great Rift Valley. Situated along the Great Rift Valley, Bwindi extends over a series of steep ridges, its massive rainforest almost impenetrable, it’s secretive interior providing the perfect habitat for the gorilla population. Terrain varies from swamp and bamboo forest to dense thicket from the ankle up which makes up 90% of the park, thus making gorilla trekking work hard!

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is home to a population of about 350 mountain gorillas, which is equivalent to roughly half of the worlds’ total population of gorillas! Bwindi is also the only area in Africa to have chimpanzees and mountain gorillas co-existing. The minimum age for gorilla trekking is 15 years.

Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge comprises of 8 bedrooms built out of stone with two of these being double roomed family units for people travelling together. Each room has their own twin basin en-suite bathroom with hot and cold water, as well as electric lights, plug points and a cosy fireplace. The main building with reception, dining, shop and bar area has six fireplaces to keep it a cosy area throughout the day. Views from the main balcony area stretch across to Rwanda and the Virungas as well as all the way across the border towards Goma in the Congo. The main lodge offers soft and plush finishes with turned wood and commissioned artwork from Ugandan artists adorn the walls throughout.

A Spa is located at the lodge where local woman have been trained in the art of massage the African way. Another optional activity would be a visit to a community project. This includes bird watching, walking to the community, viewing local projects, local beer brewing, iron smelting for a deeper insight of how the locals live. This activity would take about 3 hours. Further it is possible to take a walk to a Batwa pygmy village. These activities should ideally be pre-organised, as they require a local guide from the area.

[vc_empty_space height=”10px”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner el_class=”column220″
