There are more than 50 different kinds of bananas in East Africa alone. In Uganda, 50% of all the bananas planted are cooking bananas. Beer banana and desert bananas each comprise 25% of the total. Not only is the fruit used, but also the leaves, for example for weaving baskets or tiling roofs. If you plan on doing gorilla trekking, you should take into account that it takes place in an altitude of about 2.800 to 3.300 m. To make sure, you fully enjoy the encounter with these fascinating creatures, I recommend an additional acclimatisation day at Bwindi National Park, depending on your tour of course. I was truly impressed by the guided day trip from the north of Bwindi to its south. The hike leads through fascinating rainforest, so that you already get accustomed to the terrain. With the right guide you acquire a lot of additional information and with good planning even visit a fascinating market.<\/p>\n

Uganda can be visited throughout the year, but gorilla trekking can be more demanding during rainy season. In Uganda an ideal climate prevail, from warm temperatures in the lowlands and lakes to rather cool temperatures in the highlands. The temperatures vary between 21\u00b0C and 30\u00b0C. The rainy season is between March and May, as well as a short rainy season between October and November. Due to its altitude and the rainforest, the temperatures are much colder for the gorilla trekking in Bwindi.<\/p>\n
